How does a floorplan service work?

During a measurement service, a certified appraiser takes measurements of the property with a measuring tool — either a tape or laser measuring device. As they walk the house, they observe the layout of the rooms and other features, like closets, patios, and fireplaces. They may sketch out the property. Then, the appraiser develops a report and a more detailed floorplan showing the total area of the house and the general layout.
